Voices on the Wind Evening Voices
Visitors Villanelle by Larry Turner This evening as I entertain each guest My eyes seek out the comforts of my room To keep from them how much I am distressed. If only I could sneak out for some rest But no, their inane comments now resume This evening as I entertain each guest To hide from all this turmoil is my quest. If not, Iím sure I am about to fume And let them know how much I am distressed. My dwelling ought to be my cozy nest, But now it seems the place Iíll meet my doom This evening as I entertain each guest It seems these stupid people havenít guessed How deeply they are drowning me in gloom. They still donít see how much I am distressed. How long before I strike out at each pest? I wish that I were in my cozy tomb This evening as I entertain each guest And keep from them how much I am distressed.
