Voices on the Wind
Voices from Home
Sisters in Contrast
by Andrea Williams Reed
Born into the same family,
Share the same birth month
Two years apart, yet always near.
One with blue eyes, like the father,
the other brown, from the mother.
Shared a room, clothes, and secrets.
Played, laughed and,
One good with logic and numbers,
the other a natural with words.
One could swing a bat and catch a ball,
The other musical: sung and danced.
Close in likes and preferences.
Different paths beckon us away from home,
Standing in history alongside each other,
All the while remembering it
in different hues.
