Voices on the Wind Voices in Tribute
Ode To Sig Cofer by Doris Gwaltney Itís true she asked for it But we wanted to give it to her A brass band Marching down North Mason Street Really loud Fast, too And she wanted us to put her In a wheel chair And roll her down the ramp we built On her front porch She wanted to be on the sidewalk And this was the only way she could get there She told us yet again That day she was a hundred But we did not see the years We saw the book she wrote The many published articles And we knew of the hours spent researching In Isle of Wight Courthouse Or in Williamsburg, Virginia And so we shouted Play loud Play louder This hundred year old woman Is still a genius
