Voices on the Wind Voices of Protest
Dakota by Michelle O'Hearn While appreciating the honesty in the truth of people’s words There is some danger in the anger when reviewing what’s been heard News media selects battles that bewitch the public eye While Natives wrestle with their lives in a silenced battle cry. Should someone tumble the monuments and relics of modern past Surely another would adopt the issue and squash the perpetrator fast They who is “they” say no propaganda exists That only foreign bodies manipulate the citizens in their midst Yet no channel on the television shows me what persists Of Indian Nations fighting a war for their land alone As the silent majority chooses the next topic to resist.
